Experience nature in a new way.
Looking for an activity that combines fun, sport and discovery? Then snowshoeing is for you! Originally involving simple branches of pine attached to their feet by pre-historic man to cross snowy terrain, this very practical solution to getting around has now become a very popular and fun activity.
The name "raquette" comes from French colonists who in 1604 landed in Acadie (today known as Nova Scotia and New Brunswick). They used "snow slippers" used by native Americans, calling them "raquettes", since their shape looked similar to the gloves (known as raquettes) used in handball.
Snowshoeing is an easy activity which does not require sophisticated nor technical equipment, or a particularly high level of fitness. It's therefore possible for everyone to enjoy the magnificent panoramas and trails on offer in the Portes du Soleil.
