New this year !
In 2016, the Portes du Soleil hosts the Pass'Portes Pédestre (Walkers' festival) from 24th - 26th June; the aim of these walks is to explore the area and get a special insight into its traditions and culture.
The Portes du Soleil joins the Geopark Chablais initiative: letting the Alps tell their story!
Encompassing the heart of the Alps, the Geopark Chablais area extends from the southern shore of Lake Geneva to the Portes du Soleil's peaks.
The area was awarded UNESCO Geopark network status in 2012, thanks to its wonderful heritage, as well as its natural and geological riches.
This remarkable natural area has shaped -- and continues to influence -- the life and culture of people in the Chablais and its many visitors. Here, the tradition of Alpine meadow farming, the distinctive architecture, the way the mountains are used, and the area's stories and legends all bear witness to the enduring bond here between man and nature.
