Telemark/Yooner

The Yooner is an evolution of the "Paret de Manigod", a little wooden sledge with a single metal blade and a little sloping ledge to sit on, feet either side, and an upright handle to steer. It's light, fun and easy to use, and was traditionally used by children at the start of the last century to negotiate snowy roads on their way to school!

Sitting just 20cm from the ground, the thrills you get from a Yooner ride are astonishing.Light and easy to use, it also has a shock absorber for a comfier ride, and a metal blade that can carve, just like skis.

If you'd like to try this new way of coming down the mountain, here's where you can do it in the Portes du Soleil.

Telemark is an elegant winter sports discipline which resembles downhill skiing with the notable exception that the heel isn't bound in, hence the "free-heeling" catchphrase that aficionados say over and over, allowing them to perform their gorgeous telemark turns.

Telemark is permitted everywhere in the Portes du Soleil.
