14th stage: Annemasse – Morzine les Portes du Soleil

152km. Quite an alpine piece, 152km without the slightest respite, with a start from Annemasse, on the shores of Lake Geneva, then an impressive sequence of difficulties: the Col de Cou, the Col du Feu, the Col de Jambaz, the Col de la Ramaz (13.9km at 7.1%) and to finish the impressive Col de Joux Plane (11.6km at 8.5%)

Stage 15 (July 16) : Les Gets Les Portes du Soleil – Saint-Gervais – Mont Blanc

The Portes du Soleil area is the largest cross-border mountain biking area in Europe with trails for all levels running through its 12 resorts and 5 internationally renowned Bike Parks. It offers mountain bike routes suitable for everyone. The Mountain Bike tour covers 80 kilometers. It allows you to ride through different villages and nature nooks and crannies in the heart of the mountains, passing through Les Gets, Morzine, Avoriaz, Champéry, Châtel, Lake Geneva and Montriond.

The stage of the 2023 Tour

The 31st edition of the Stage of the Tour de France will be held on July 09, 2023 on the route of the 14th stage of the Tour de France, between Annemasse and Morzine, that is 152 km of road with more than 4,100 meters of cumulative positive elevation gain, including the climbs of the Saxel Pass, Cou Pass, Fire Pass, Ramaz Pass and Joux Plane Pass.

Mythical pass

The Joux Plane pass, climbed many times by the Tour de France riders, remains one of the most difficult passes in the Alps. The foot of the pass is immediately steep, then the slope is very irregular with a maximum percentage of 13%, at the place called “La Combe Emeru”.
