Blessing of the skiers

Cultural, Traditions and folklore, Religious celebration in Châtel

  • Rendez-vous in the early evening at the chapel of Plaine Dranse for the blessing of the skiers followed by a torchlight descent. Traditional music and mulled wine and hot chocolate offered to all.

  • Program :
    18:30: opening of Pierre Longue chairlift
    18:45: arrival of the statue of the Virgin, Our Lady of the Snows
    19:00 : blessing in the chapel by Father Louis Aegerter, accompanied by the choir of the Valley of Abondance and accompanied by Gérard VIGNOCCHI on accordion, Michel LOPEZ on guitar and piano, and Fabrice BORNETTO on saxophone.
    After the ceremony, wine and hot chocolate served to the public.

    Then return to the resort centre by shuttle or personal vehicle.

    For those who wish to take the torchlight descent, torches can be purchased at the bottom of the chairlift from 18:30 for 5 €.

    The Châtel Bus après-ski shuttle runs to Pré la Joux on request from 6pm to 9.15pm.
    Then, the evening shuttle of the village is in function until 23h30.
