  • Mont de Grange is a Natura 2000 and hunting reserve.
    This hike enables to discover a nature shared between wildlife and alpine pastures. This itinerary offers you beautiful views of Abondance, La Chapelle d'Abondance and Châtel.

  • The Mont de Grange tour is a hike for experienced walkers.
    The Mont de Grange is a nature reserve of 3,000 ha, classified Natura 2000.
    It is also a hunting reserve where deer, chamois, roe deer, mouflons, marmots, black grouse, ptarmigan, golden eagles... You can easily observe them early in the morning.This hike also invites you to discover the wild flora such as the martagon lily, the paradise lily, the alpine columbine, the gentians or the genepi.

    The Mont de Grange tour is a hike for experienced walkers.
    The Mont de Grange is a nature reserve of 3,000 ha, classified Natura 2000.
    It is also a hunting reserve where deer, chamois, roe deer, mouflons, marmots, black grouse, ptarmigan, golden eagles... You can easily observe them early in the morning.This hike also invites you to discover the wild flora such as the martagon lily, the paradise lily, the alpine columbine, the gentians or the genepi.

    From the Plan des feux in La Chapelle d'Abondance, you take the gravel path towards Enquernaz. You cross the ski area of La Chapelle d'Abondance and the alpine pasture of Plaine Joux.

    At l'Enquernaz, you will then take the direction of La Chapelle Saint-Théodule. You will pass by various places and discover the traditional houses of Charmy l'Adroit in Abondance.

    After the Chapelle Saint Théodule, you will reach the viewpoint of Lenlevay by a mountain path passing by the alpine chalets of Bailly and Jouly. You will meet the Abondance cows in these mountain pastures during the summer season. A beautiful view of Abondance and Châtel awaits you.

    In Lenlevay, you will take the GR5 path via the Etrye, Pron and Mattes chalets. You will walk along the Pointe des Mattes and then descend to the chalets of Torrens and les Crottes and then return to the starting point.
  • Tips
    At Les Mattes, you have the possibility to branch off towards the Trebentaz refuge.
  • Car park: Plan des Feux - La Chapelle d'Abondance
    Nearest bus stop: La Sauge by the Colombus (summer only), to reach Sur Bayard and the GR5.
  • Plain text period
    From 01/06 to 30/09.
    Accessible outside the snow period and depending on weather conditions. Check with the Tourist Office beforehand to find out the current access conditions. Recommended practice period: spring - summer - autumn.
