Biography
The "Artemandoline" ensemble, founded by Juan Carlos Muñoz and Mari Fe Pavón, claims a return to the sources based on original scores in order to restore the mandolin and its incomparable repertoire to its true letters of nobility. These musicians resurrect forgotten masterpieces of early music written for their instrument. Their ambition is simple: to bring out the emotion, humanity and modernity in these unique works, whether on disc or in concert, that will appeal to today's audiences. Artemandoline is one of the world's pioneering and leading plucked-string ensembles of its kind. With a variable geometry ranging from a reduced instrumental formation to a chamber orchestra, the group also strives to blend different musical genres, performing repertoires from the 17th to the 19th century on period instruments. The musicians' fiery temperament is particularly appreciated by audiences for its rhetorical sense of communication and lively conception of historical music. Music critics and listeners alike are immediately enthralled by their fiery, original style. Artemandoline enjoys international recognition and performs on the most prestigious stages. The ensemble is a regular guest at many early music festivals.
