The largest ski & bike cross-border domain in Europe

Here, the sun rises in Switzerland and sets in France, unless it’s the other way around… But one thing is certain, skiing has no borders!

From the small charming village, to the big trendy resort, the Portes du Soleil offers something to do every day to meet new people, explore new slopes or marvel at new panoramas…

From the majestic Mont Blanc to the imposing Dents du Midi, from the Valais AOP raclette to the Abondance AOC cheese, all the ingredients are gathered for a successful trip, across 2 countries… and on skis!

The first cross-border domain

The Portes du Soleil domain, in addition to being the first Franco-Swiss cross-border domain, is also one of the largest ski areas in the Alps. Between France and Switzerland, the domain offers you a majestic panorama and a total change of scenery!

Two countries, two currencies, two ways of life, the same language with melodious and different accents but the same love of the mountains. And, the 12 typical or avant-garde village-resorts that make up this territory, have managed to keep the charm of Chablais life at altitude.

This particular location of the ski area allows holidaymakers to travel with their skis on. A journey within the journey, beyond the borders, which invites to the bucolic, contemplative, sporting, gustatory stroll, for young and old alike… There is something for all tastes and all glides in the Portes du Soleil! #BeyondBorders

An Alpine domain

On the slopes, it is possible to start your skiing in France and finish it in Switzerland and vice versa… If you are a beginner don’t be afraid, the Portes du Soleil ski area in the French and Swiss Alps includes slopes for all levels:

Green slopes suitable for learning,

We like

> The charm of the place. The Portes du Soleil is a large area with multiple possibilities, but not a snow factory. The Franco-Swiss side brings a different and friendly atmosphere.
> The gastronomy. With no less than 90 restaurants and canteens at altitude, here we like to eat and we don’t take tourists for pigeons.
> Off-piste domain that is almost inexhaustible if you know how to do it, which allows you to ski all winter long (almost) without walking.
> Reasonable pricing policy. Example: the five-hour pass (instead of three in general) and reduced prices from the end of March.
> Snow hole (in general).
> Animations and festive atmosphere, with among other things the Rock the Pistes festival in the spring, high-level concerts scattered around the area, to discover while skiing.
