Hiking in a preserved area

Want to hike?

From the shores of Lake Geneva to the iconic peaks of the Dents du Midi, the Chablais region is full of hiking or long-distance trails (the GR5). Family vacations in the mountains are an opportunity to recharge your batteries, enjoy the splendid landscapes and breathe the fresh air. It is also a great playground to exercise and discover splendid summer landscapes at the bend of a path. Hiking and trekking with the family or in a more sportive way is a great way to discover the Portes du Soleil area, its numerous summits and its sumptuous landscapes during a hike in Haute-Savoie, or in Lake Geneva, in the heart of the Alps. The area offers 800 km of marked trails and 27 ski lifts to make it easy to climb the peaks.

To get away from the big drops and reach some accessible peaks, Portes du Soleil has also developed the Multi Pass product: A card that gives you unlimited access to more than 60 activities including pedestrian lifts… If you want to hike, you can take a tour of the Portes du Soleil, or go for a family walk along a lake, or even climb one of its peaks! As you can see, the Chablais (Northern Alps) lends itself wonderfully to hiking in all its forms: from simple family mountain walks to sustained alpine day hikes, there is something for everyone.

It should be noted that access to the peaks of the Chablais often proves to be a bit steep and may require the use of hands. So to make things easier for you, the Portes du Soleil have published the hiking map for sale in the Tourist Offices of all the Portes du Soleil resorts: d’Abondance, Avoriaz 1800, Champéry, Châtel, La Chapelle d’Abondance, Les Gets, Montriond, Morgins, Morzine-Avoriaz, St Jean d’Aulps, Torgon and Val-d’Illiez Les Crosets Champoussin

Geopark Chablais

Here, the Alps tell their story.
In the heart of the Alps, the Geopark Chablais stretches from the southern shore of Lake Geneva to the peaks of the Portes du Soleil. The territory’s rich heritage, natural and geological assets enabled it to join the network of Geoparks supported by UNESCO in 2012. This remarkable natural area has shaped and still shapes the life and culture of the Chablais people and its many visitors. The exploitation of the mountain pastures, the traditional buildings, the use of the mountain, the tales and legends testify to these strong links between man and nature.
