The Swiss Wall

Les Crosets

The legendary Swiss challenge is waiting for you!

On the ground,

Or on the buttocks...?

Every year, many of those who venture onto the steepest slope in the area don’t even have time to ask themselves this question! What about you? Will you measure yourself against the Swiss Wall, its 37 degrees of inclination and 331 meters of difference in altitude, avoided by the groomers and sculpted by the snow conditions…? Come on, now that you’re at an altitude of more than 2150 meters, you just have to go down: the Chavanette refreshment bar is right there, at the bottom…

The essential

Live this experience
Access

Start Pas de Chavanette
Vertical drop 331 meters
Length 1.3 km
Very difficult level, ungroomed route

The Swiss Wall is famous for being one of the steepest and most difficult downhill runs in the world with 37° average slope and up to 76% gradient! It stretches for 1 km and its field of bumps can reach 2 meters in height.

The good plan

The Swiss Wall is freely accessible with a Portes du Soleil pass.

Good to know

The fastest runs on the Swiss Wall go to Dominique Perret, a legendary Swiss freerider:
39 seconds during the first edition of the Derby de Chavanette!
And an incredible 17-second run straight off the moguls.

The ski resorts

Val-d'Illiez, Les Crosets, Champoussin

Champoussin and Les Crosets are neighbouring resorts, both part of the Val-d’Illiez commune. They are veritable balconies overlooking the surrounding peaks, yet they offer two distinct views: Champoussin, full of authenticity, allows you to look down on the Dents du Midi, whereas from Les Crosets, the panorama is directed towards the impressive Dent Jaune corridor and the Dents Blanches massif. It is here that the slopes cross, opening up the Portes du Soleil and the field of possibilities…
