Hiking from Abondance to Torgon

The itinerary starts in the centre of the village resort of Abondance, from where you will follow the road indicating the places known as le Mont and le Sauvage. Take the pebble path that goes to the chalets of Crébin and La Raille, crossing the forest. Once you have passed the chalets de la Raille, you can take a break to admire the panorama. Turn left towards the Col de Vernaz. Then, cross the cows, green alder bushes, to reach a stony path on the right bank of the Séchet brook. Turn right along the stream. 200m after the first bridge you can cross the brook to go to the place called Chevenne (1217m). Then you have to go to the GR 5. At the next intersection, turn right towards a pebbled path in the direction of the Col de Vernaz. Once towards the chalets de Toper, take the raidillon (sloping path) which is on your right to reach the Col de Vernaz. Once there, follow "Lac d'Arvouin" on a dirt path. 50 m before the Col de Resse, turn left towards the path that goes up to the Col du Serpentin. Then on the right, you will have a panorama on the village station of Abondance and continue to the head of the Avalanche, then carefully go on a raid which goes towards the chalets and the lake of Arvouin. Follow the left bank and follow the track towards Sevan-Devant. Follow the direction of chalets du Mouet to go into the pastures and forest. Go up to the Col de Recon (or Rapenaz), once at the pass go down on the Swiss side with the possibility to see mouflons on your right. Then turn right between the restaurant La Bourri and the chalet de Recon, to reach Chétillon. Once you have passed this chalet, go in the direction of "Le Croix". Before the chalet, turn left. You will pass in front of the torrent of Plan du Croix. Enter a road leading to a car park which you will cross to take the path on your left. Go along the right bank of the torrent then turn right on a road passing near the sports square "Les Fours" to reach La Jorette. Finally, you will have to pass on the left bank to follow the educational path "Water and Forest" which will take you to a hairpin where you will have to turn right to reach Torgon Tourisme.
