The Belle Dimanche is one of the oldest traditionnal Savoyard festival.
It honours the shepherds and their animals, but also traditional craftsmanship, to the delight of all. -
Taking place at Plaine Dranse the festival starts with the arrival of the shepherds and their herds. Then a mass is celebrated in the open air with, as is traditional, the blessing of the shepherds and cattles.
Throughout the day you will be able to wander among the many stands where craftsmen of all kinds will be exhibiting their creations: paintings and woodcarvings, bell founders, natural and artisanal products, decorative objects, pottery, jewellery....

The various associations of Châtel will also propose games and animations as well as refreshment stands with food and drinks..
The musical atmosphere is provided by several music groups that perform at different points of the festival throughout the day: folk groups, alphorns, brass bands....
Access to the festival is by foot, chairlift or free shuttle bus. The site is not accessible by car. Throughout the day, free shuttles will run from the village to Pré la Joux, then from Pré la Joux to Plaine Dranse from 8.30am to 7.30pm. The Pierre Longue chairlift will operate from 8am to 5.30pm.
