Inspire by Les Portes du Soleil
Valentin inspires us and makes us dream with his breathtaking videos of ease and commitment. These moments of absolute freedom are the result of a personal story and hard work on his favorite training spot Avoriaz 1800.
The INSPIRED
Valentin Delluc
the portrait
Attracted by mountain sports from an early age, he spent his winters on skis, crisscrossing the slopes of the Portes du Soleil and expressing his acrobatic qualities in the snowparks of his adopted resort, Avoriaz 1800. In summer, driven by a great thirst for freedom, it was in the air that the young man discovered another way to travel, (or rather fly over!) the peaks of his region, thanks to paragliding.
A few years later, while he was already distinguishing himself in the world of freestyle skiing, he took off against the grain at the age of 18, by engaging in speedriding in the footsteps of his older brother who disappeared in the air in 2010. At the time, the discipline is still quite unknown, but Valentin is taken by passion. He will train relentlessly and will cross the road of a pioneer and figure of paragliding, a certain Antoine Montant, with whom he will progress in this new practice in full evolution. Very quickly, he will win his first competitions and will become one of the best speedriders in the world.
A mini canopy derived from paragliding, also called a wing, with an average surface area of between 7 and 12m². A harness, hooked to the lines/or lines of the mini-sail. A pair of skis, preferably freeride or backcountry. A helmet and an adapted back protection (airbag or rigid), for safety.
Today, under his mini-sail, Valentin never stops flying and gliding at high speed in areas totally inaccessible to the simple skier. From his passage on the mythical roofs of Avoriaz 1800 to his flight in the seracs of the Bossons glacier, through an unprecedented descent at night in the Chamonix valley, his imagination has no limits when it comes to expressing his art in the air with his skis.
A story
Of adrenaline
Speedriding but not only!”
Famous all over the world thanks to the broadcasting of his spectacular videos on the web, Valentin nevertheless keeps his feet on the ground. He practices speedriding and other aerial activities such as basejumping or speedflying (speedriding but without the skis!) with a lot of preparation. The realization of a two-minute run requires him several days of work beforehand to analyze the weather, the aerology, the topography of the relief… Nothing escapes him, he spends hours on the ground spotting every detail of his line before launching himself.
But for him, who constantly needs to move, nothing is more important than going to seek happiness above a cliff or between the trees of a canyon. Besides, Valentin remains very attached to Avoriaz 1800 and the Portes du Soleil area, which offer him an ideal playground and which he knows by heart to train and achieve his feats.
