Good practice

A tip from a rider: read on if you value your bones. A bit dramatic? Perhaps, but so true!
Don’t worry – if you stick to these few basics, your ride will be legendary!
This page is just a chance to give a quick reminder of those safety basics that we all agree with in theory, but tend to forget once we’ve strapped on our full-face helmet!

6 tips for riding safely

1CHECK YOUR BIKE FROM A TO Z
  • Brakes, fastenings, tyre pressure: check everything over before getting on the
chairlift. The bike park’s a bit of a rough ride. A mechanical failure at full speed is the quickest way to ruin your day (and your bike).

2WARM UP BEFORE YOU SEND IT OFF
  • Loosen up your joints and have a good stretch before hitting the first run.
Riding hard requires strength, balance and quick reflexes. Warm up properly!

3FULL PROTECTION, FROM HEAD TO TOE
  • No compromises on safety: a full-face helmet is compulsory in the bike park. And when things get rough, you’ll be really glad you’ve got your knee pads, elbow pads, gloves, goggles and chest protector.

4 CHECK THE COLOUR OF THE SLOPES, KNOW YOUR LIMITS
  • Choose runs that suit your ability and stick to the progression. The colour-coding isn’t just there to look nice. Throwing yourself down a black run before you’ve mastered the blue ones is the quickest way to a nasty fall.

5FIRST RUN, RECONNAISSANCE MODE
  • Take the time to warm up and check out the run on your first run down.
Between the weather, the braking bumps and the sections, the terrain changes every day. Spot the features before you go for it.

6DRIVE SMART, DRIVE SAFELY
  • Mountain biking in bike parks is like skiing: riding downhill is great, but knowing how to stop before you reach the ravine is even better. Qualified instructors are on hand throughout the resort – do make use of their services!

Regulations

Regulations

for Children

For safety reasons, certain items of equipment are not permitted on the ski lifts or on the bike park trails:

  • Front seats (shotgun-style and similar)
  • Baby seats
  • Baby carriers
  • Trailers. These devices are not suitable for downhill mountain biking and do not provide the necessary protection for passengers in the event of an incident. Their use is strictly prohibited to ensure the safety of all users.
