Journées Européennes du Patrimoine - Maison du Fromage Abondance

Join us on Saturday 19 September 2026 at the Maison du Fromage Abondance to celebrate our valley’s heritage together, whilst enjoying the many free activities on offer as part of the European Heritage Days!

ON THE PROGRAMME:

• VISIT THE MAISON DU FROMAGE ABONDANCE: A nine-stage tour allows you to uncover the secrets of Abondance cheese through the landscapes, traditional techniques, craftsmanship and your senses. Extend your exploration of Savoie cheeses by popping into the local produce shop!

• DE L'ALPAGE À LA TABLE (Fun tour): Discover the unique characteristics of Abondance cheese and engage your senses on this fun tour for the whole family.

• NEW – LE SAC DES PETITS CURIEUX: Little hands, big discoveries! From six months old, babies can explore the world of the farm with all their senses thanks to the Curious Little Ones’ Bag: sounds, textures, smells and surprises are waiting to be discovered for a moment of family fun with Opaline the cow.

• LA BROUETTE DE JULIETTE (ages 3–6): Through an illustrated story and a wheelbarrow full of surprises, explore the daily life of Juliette, a young farmer from Abondance. Activity for families with very young children.

• AVIS DE RECHERCHE: 8 cheeses have gone missing… it’s up to you to find them, using your smartphone. It couldn’t be simpler: download the Pégase LAB app from the Apple Store or Google Play; “add a game” and enter the code 1583rfm.

• MAIS QUI A CROQUE DANS LA MEULE D’ABONDANCE ? (TREASURE HUNT): Become budding detectives… Conduct your investigation and try to track down the glutton who couldn’t resist taking a bite out of a wheel of Abondance cheese! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to join the Abondance Cheese Brigade and identify the culprit.

• FOCUS ON THE TREASURES OF ABONDANCE – PHOTO RALLY: Test your knowledge of Abondance’s heritage! Whether tangible, intangible or natural, set out in search of these treasures and bring them to life through your photographs.

• GUIDED TOUR OF THE MAISON DU FROMAGE ABONDANCE: Accompanied by a guide, discover how Abondance cheese is made. From the organisation of mountain farming to the maturing cellars, blending modernity with tradition, the expertise of the Abondance Valley is revealed to you.
