Friday, September 08, 2023 – UCI Mountain Bike Festival – Les Gets, Haute-Savoie The track is dry, the temperature a little cooler than in the middle of the day, perfect conditions for a great race. The only drawback is the absence of recent world champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot and her greatest rival Jolanda Neff. At 6:15pm, the world’s best female crossers set off for the XCC event in Les Gets. It’s Italian Martina Berta who makes the holeshot!
She was quickly caught and then passed by Loana Lecomte, who took the lead for a few laps. The Gets crowd was in a trance.
But Allessandra Keller, Evie Richards, Jenny Rissveds and the inevitable Puck Pieterse were not far behind and eventually caught Loana. It was the Dutchwoman Pieterse who provided the decisive acceleration at the start of the final lap. Only Allessandra Keller was able to keep up with this clear acceleration at first, but then she cracked. She finished 3rd behind Evie Richard and the day’s big winner Puck Pieterse.
Congratulations to this champion on her first XCC victory in the Portes du Soleil.
It’s off to a fast start! As usual, it’s Luca Schwarzbauer who takes the lead in the first corner.
Then it was on to a superb race of twists and turns between the world’s best. Nino Schurter’s absence is quickly forgotten. The riders crush the pedals and crank up the watts. No one manages to make the hole.
On the penultimate lap, the top 5 positions were occupied by Luca Schwarzbauer, Victor Koretzky, Joshua Dubau, Jordan Sarrou and Mathias Flückiger. One lap remains to decide between the 5 men.
In the end, Victor Koreztky won the sprint ahead of Jordan Sarrou and Thomas Litscher!
